St. Mary Catholic Church

Rainbow Catholics in Christ

RCC (Rainbow Catholics in Christ) meets every third Thursday of each month. Meetings will be held on the third floor of the Ministry Center, beginning at 6:30 PM. All Are Welcome.

Mission Statement
Rainbow Catholics in Christ (RCC) welcomes, supports and affirms its gay and lesbian brothers and sisters, parents and families with gay and lesbian children, friends of gay and lesbian individuals, and those who wish to stand in solidarity with them in Christ.

We seek to ease the pain of alienation and rejection, and to promote reconciliation between the church and any individual oppressed because of sexual orientation.

The goal of RCC is to educate ourselves and our church community to the existence of unexamined prejudice, as well as to the consequences of injustice. We will work to put an end to discrimination toward gay and lesbian people, their families and friends, by building bridges of cooperation and understanding within and outside of the church community.

Our Message
St. Mary Catholic Church is open to all people as a welcoming and affirming Catholic community. We affirm the love of Christ for everyone and offer a place of worship for those who may have felt disconnected or unwelcome in the Catholic faith.  God does not discriminate toward any individual, and  neither do we.

Support
RCC will provide support for individuals, parents, families and friends who may struggle with coming out and/or understanding sexual orientation. We provide guidance and assistance with a modern Catholic perspective. We assert that sexual orientation is part of God’s gift of diversity to be honored and celebrated.

Education
RCC will educate those who want to worship, learn and grow together in Catholic faith. We contend that all individuals have gifts and dignity and that only when we embrace the spectrum of human diversity are we fully one with God.

Spiritual
RCC will have faith-sharing opportunities where ideas can be exchanged and where the subject of sexual orientation is not mutually exclusive to the conversation of being a follower of Christ.

A Safe Enviroment
RCC will be a safe place to explore what the Bible says regarding homosexuality and what it does not say. The Bible has been used to condemn homosexuality thereby excluding some of God’s beloved children from God’s table. We believe that every person is created in God’s image and likeness.

Outreach
RCC will provide outreach to the gay and lesbian communities and to those who stand with them — parents, families and friends. We are ecumenical in welcoming everyone, and we specifically work to show that the Catholic Church has an unconditional love for all. We are all God’s children. We work to help the gay and lesbian community find comfort in being an integral part of the Catholic community and to communicate the power of God’s unconditional love.

Statement of Confidentiality
This ministry is committed to maintaining confidentiality.

Every individual attending any meeting is asked to hold the stories and/or faith sharing by all attendees in confidence.
